How ‘Benchmarking’ helped improve maternity retention for a Manufacturing giant
Problem Statement
An organization recognized the need to embark on a DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) journey, starting with understanding the best practices and initiatives adopted by its peers in the market.
Solution Offered
Avtar recommended the Industry Benchmarking for DEI to help the organization create a robust DEI action plan for gender and People with Disabilities (PwDs) diversity strands. This solution involved benchmarking the organization's diversity metrics across the talent management lifecycle, in a very granular manner.
Activities Conducted
We conducted diversity analytics exercises to help the management understand current market trends in DEI. The Avtar Best Companies for Women in India (BCWI) study and the Working Mother and Avtar Most Inclusive Companies Index (MICI) provided insights into best practices of India’s top companies.
Outcomes Achieved
After one year, mid-career retention of women improved significantly (maternity attrition dropped 7%), and a structured DEI Governance Model and training programs was established for managers to champion the cause of gender inclusion.
How an FMCG major implemented successful DEI roadmap through ‘Diversity Assessment’
Problem Statement
A high growth FMCG major recognized the importance of diversity and inclusion and wanted to assess its collective orientation towards including and appreciating diversity. The organization needed to deliberate and decide on its further action plan.
Solution Offered
To address the organization's requirement, Avtar recommended a 'Diversity Audit.' The audit helped the organization to identify areas where it needed to improve its approach towards diversity and inclusion and develop a clear-cut action plan.
Activities Conducted
The assessment was done on three employee groups - leaders, managers, and diversity representatives - to understand their perception of diversity and check if policies cater to diverse talent groups.

The audit helped the organization bridge attitudinal gaps in implementing DEI and created channels to address grievances, The new, repurposed DEI roadmap helped leaders create a more inclusive workplace culture.
